Shadow and Bone Book Review
Shadow and Bone is everything and more. It is honestly one of the best fantasy worlds I have ever read. I loved the depth of the characters and the world Bardugo has created for her readers is truly so captivating and amazing. One way I know this book was so good was because the second it ended I picked up the second book. While reading I felt all sorts of emotions and felt strong connections with many of the characters. Which personally doesn’t come easily to me, it takes me awhile depending on the book to feel strong emotions towards certain characters.
With this book in particular I understood what Alina was going through and I felt for her and Mal’s story and what they have gone through together. I also loved the plot twists in this book and all the events just seemed to come together in the end.
I love fantasies and this book was a perfect example of one. I absolutely loved learning about the Ravka history and Grisha mythology. And how the author came up with this complex history, adding so much more to the story. The plot was very well paced and I found myself reading it without getting bored.
Alina’s character growth was astonishing and the way she grew into her magic, determined to tame it was incredible. The friends she meets and the relationships she makes really add a lot to Shadow and Bone. I loved many of the connections developed throughout the course of the story, most especially being the Darkling and Alina. There was just something about the two of them whenever they were near that made me think they had some sort of twisted connection.
From the characters to the magical plot and lurking danger it was a fantastic read definitely worth reading. The lesson of this story was inspirational: The light will always win in the presence of darkness.
